Google AI Mode adds flight price tracking and points rates, hotel booking in the same flow
In an announcement dated August 27, 2026 Google set out three travel features for AI Mode in Search: flight tracking using prices from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites, seeing the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles, and hotel booking inside AI Mode.
AI Mode gained three travel capabilities
In a blog post dated August 27, 2026 Google announced three travel features for AI Mode in Search: flight price tracking, seeing the cost in points or miles, and hotel booking.
The post was written by James Byers, group product manager on Search. Per the announcement, AI Mode could already compare flights and hotels, pull recommendations from across the web and build an itinerary; the new features sit on top of that experience.
What the three items share is letting the user complete the task without leaving the conversation for another surface.
More than 300 partners, 180 countries and points tables
The first item is price tracking. Google Flights price tracking moves directly into AI Mode, letting the user set a price alert without breaking the flow of the chat. Describe where and when you want to fly and the system shows options with current prices from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites.
Anyone who wants to wait for prices to drop can ask for tracking and gets an email when prices change. Google notes that flight price tracking in AI Mode is available in more than 180 countries and territories.
The second item is points and miles. AI Mode can now show the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles. The announcement gives the example of searching for nonstop flights between two cities using a specific miles program, with the system showing how many miles are needed based on current partner data.
Google writes that this capability is globally available, launching with support for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines and Lufthansa Group is described as arriving in the coming weeks.
The third item is hotel booking. When the user describes the trip and their preferences, AI Mode produces a visual list of hotels and the reservation can be completed in the same flow.
The announcement carries no Türkiye specific information and names no local partner.
Search moves from comparison to transaction
The assessment in this section is ours. For a search engine, the difference between showing a price and taking a reservation is as large as the difference between a shop window and a till.
In the classic setup a search result was an intermediary: the user saw the result, went to the site, and completed the transaction there. When the transaction completes on the search surface, the link between site traffic and sales weakens.
That does not mean traffic disappears, but it changes its nature. Visitors in the comparison stage drop, while the person who does reach the site has mostly already decided.
The second point is data. Showing a cost in points or miles requires current data flowing from partners. Appearing on surfaces like this increasingly depends on inventory and pricing data being fed correctly.
The third point is the return of the email alert. A user who sets price tracking comes back days later through an email. In categories where the purchase decision is not immediate, that raises the question of who does the reminding.
What it means for businesses in Türkiye
The assessment below does not appear in the source, it is our reading. The announcement carries nothing specific to Türkiye, and no Türkiye based program appears among the named points partners.
Price tracking is nevertheless described as open in more than 180 countries and territories. Visitors coming to Türkiye sitting inside that flow is a direct visibility matter for hospitality and travel businesses.
The first practical step is the accuracy of inventory and pricing data. If a hotel's price, availability and cancellation terms look different across channels, automated systems cannot be expected to carry that information correctly.
The second step is the business profile. Current location, phone number, photos and reviews are the base data affecting the chance of being picked on these surfaces. This is the gap we see most often in the field in Türkiye.
The third step is protecting the direct channel. As completing a reservation on intermediary surfaces gets easier, the advantage of booking on your own site has to become concrete: flexible cancellation, an extra service or a clear price promise.
The fourth step is measurement. If site traffic falls while sales hold, look at the channel breakdown before panicking. In changes like this a wrong diagnosis costs more than the actual problem.
The UNALSOFT take
On the web design side we no longer build a site purely as a place people read. If price, availability, cancellation policy and contact details do not sit there in machine readable form, that business is represented incompletely on surfaces like these. Structured data is not a markup detail for us, it is the one consistent layer of information a business gives the outside world. Second, we treat protecting the direct channel as part of the design: a transaction that can complete at an intermediary will move there unless your own site offers a better reason. Third, measurement: when a change like this breaks the link between traffic and revenue, the first move is redrawing the report. Reading a table where the traffic metric falls while revenue holds in a panic only produces unnecessary decisions.
