Reach and frequency on YouTube come under one goal

Google Ads has made video campaign groups available globally, letting advertisers set a single reach or frequency goal across multiple video campaigns. Budget and creative decisions stay at campaign level, while reach and frequency optimization and reporting move up to the group. This issue covers the July 23 agenda and was published on July 25, 2026 to complete the archive.

01 · WHAT HAPPENED?

Video campaign groups go global

Google announced that video campaign groups for YouTube reach and frequency campaigns are now available globally in Google Ads. The feature lets an advertiser set one reach or frequency goal across several video campaigns, while each campaign keeps its own budget, creative and other settings. Planning happens in one place; execution continues in separate campaigns.

02 · DETAILS

Reporting, the frequency finding and what comes next

Unified reporting arrives at group level: unique reach, average weekly impressions and reach and frequency performance across the whole group are visible in one view. That removes the work of watching campaigns one by one and hand-calculating how often the same person was reached.

In the announcement Google shared a finding from Meridian marketing mix modelling: an optimal frequency of 2.7 impressions per week is associated with a 19% lift in return on investment. The analysis was drawn from roughly 600 US brands between 2023 and 2025. The company also said the feature is coming to Display & Video 360 soon, which would let advertisers coordinate reach and frequency across multiple YouTube line items.

03 · WHY IT MATTERS

Showing up ten times to the same person burns budget

The quietest budget loss in video advertising comes from appearing in front of the same viewer more often than needed. When separate campaigns target the same audience, impressions per person drift out of control; brand recall does not improve and irritation can set in instead. A frequency goal at group level makes it possible to cap that overlap from one place. That is what the finding points to: the job is not buying more impressions, it is appearing at the right rhythm.

04 · TÜRKİYE

What it means for businesses in Türkiye

Most businesses running YouTube ads in Türkiye have several video campaigns live at once: one for the brand, one for a promotion, one for a new product. When those campaigns target the same city, the same age range and the same interests, audience overlap is unavoidable. Video campaign groups make that overlap measurable and easier to bound. Three practical steps: put video campaigns aimed at the same audience into one group, choose the weekly frequency goal deliberately, and read the group through unique reach in reporting. One caution belongs here too: lowering frequency on its own does not create performance. Appearing a few times with different creative works better than appearing a few times with the same film. In a group with no creative variety, low frequency simply means being watched less.

The UNALSOFT take

Our reading is clear: tuning reach and frequency only slows the loss if the creative is weak. So we build video work on two tracks: campaign structure and frequency discipline on one side, and a creative set that tells the same message from different angles on the other. That is why our AI ad films service produces several variants of one story rather than a single video: so you can cap frequency at group level and still show the viewer something new each time.
