Per a Search Engine Land report dated August 7, 2026, YouTube is trying sponsored static images that appear on part of the screen during landscape playback on mobile devices. Unlike traditional pre-roll and mid-roll ads the image does not pause or replace the content being watched, and it surfaces roughly every three minutes. The test was first spotted by PPC News Feed founder Hana Kobzova. Google has not confirmed whether this is a limited test or headed for a wider rollout.

Per a Fortune report dated August 7, 2026, live commerce platform Whatnot raised $545 million in a Series G round and reached a $20 billion valuation, nearly double the $11.5 billion valuation from October 2025.
