OpenAI says robots.txt may not apply to the ChatGPT fetch bot

Per a Search Engine Journal report dated August 14, 2026, OpenAI argues that user initiated requests differ from automated crawling and therefore that robots.txt rules may not apply to ChatGPT-User. Per the report this bot reached disallowed pages on more sites than any competing AI bot, and on European sites roughly 15 percent of identified fetchers accessed disallowed URLs. The critical distinction: disallow directives represent requests only. Sites blocking both ChatGPT-User and OAI-SearchBot lose the visibility benefit.

Google Analytics lets you set attribution windows day by day

Per a Search Engine Land report dated August 14, 2026, Google Analytics moved conversion attribution lookback windows beyond preset options. Engaged view conversions were fixed at 3 days and can now be set from 1 to 30 days, while click through conversions were limited to presets of 1, 7, 14, 30, 60 and 90 days and can now be set from 1 to 90 days. The setting sits under Advertising, Conversion management and Settings. The aim is aligning the window with the real buying cycle.

STORY 3 · SOCIAL MEDIA

Meta removed more than 750,000 teen accounts in Australia

Per the Meta compliance announcement, the company removed more than 750,000 accounts belonging to under 16 users on Facebook and Instagram in Australia as of June 30, 2026, over 500,000 of them before the law took effect in December 2025. Age detection uses AI analysis examining posts, comments, bios and captions for clues such as birthday mentions or school references. Systems prevent removed accounts from re-registering, and app store ratings were raised to 16 plus.

The agenda moves fast, the system stays calm.
