STORY 2 · ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Meta brings SMBs an AI business assistant

Per a Social Media Today report dated August 19, 2026, Meta AI now integrates Facebook, Instagram, Meta Ads and Google Workspace analytics to guide small business owners through conversational prompts. The assistant delivers insights and recommendations based on business questions, analyzes actual ad examples with improvement suggestions, converts insights into documents and spreadsheets, and generates recurring tasks and reminders. Meta frames it as the first step toward Business Agent and Business Assistant tools that will automate promotion entirely. The tool is free today, with a Meta One subscription mentioned as it expands.

A 41 day experiment: JavaScript links make pages invisible to AI search

In a study published on Search Engine Land on August 19, 2026, a 1,062 page directory was split into 11 sections with HTML links and 10 with JavaScript injected links, with sitemaps and other discovery paths disabled. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Bingbot, Meta-ExternalAgent, Amazonbot and PerplexityBot found exactly zero JavaScript linked pages in the initial phase. Googlebot reached 2 percent of JavaScript linked pages against 5 percent of HTML linked ones. After links were converted to HTML on day 27, GPTBot crawled 250 new pages within 48 hours while Google took weeks.
