Shopify opens checkout to AI agents in the browser through WebMCP tools
On September 28, 2026 Shopify said AI agents running in a buyer's browser can now read and update its checkouts through WebMCP tools. There are four: get_checkout, update_checkout, complete_checkout and navigate_to_storefront. They work inside the active checkout session, and Shopify says they add no new API and need no merchant configuration. Line items are ignored, so buyers change the items themselves, and an agent may submit the order only after showing the buyer the current order and total and getting permission. Control returns to the buyer for steps like 3D Secure. Per Search Engine Journal, the classic three-page checkout gets the tools only when the buyer pays with Shop Pay, and WebMCP works only in Chromium-based browsers for now.
Google is opening AI Mode info monitoring to every user
On September 28, 2026 Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, said in a post on X that info monitoring in AI Mode is rolling out worldwide to everyone, after only Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers had it. People describe what they want tracked, and Search keeps checking sites, forums, social posts, Google's real-time data sources and a Shopping Graph holding more than 60 billion products. Stein's examples were new restaurants or pop-ups opening nearby, holiday activities for kids in the local area, and alerts when an item is restocked or its price drops. Search Engine Roundtable says the rollout is still under way and that the alerts arrive through the Google app, inside AI Mode.
ElevenLabs launches Eleven v4: 90+ languages, voice clones from 10 seconds
On September 28, 2026 ElevenLabs announced Eleven v4, a text-to-speech model on an entirely new architecture, and Eleven v4 Turbo, a variant built for latency-sensitive work such as agents. Users can describe in plain language how a line should be read and add emotion, accents or sound effects with inline tags. Both models support more than 90 languages, and Turkish is on the documented language list, as it already was for Eleven v3. Instant Voice Clones can now be built from 10 seconds of audio, and Professional Voice Clones are supported. By the company's own measurement, Turbo's median time to first speech is about 150 ms. Both models are available in ElevenAgents, ElevenCreative and ElevenAPI.
