UnalSoft Media Optimizer, License and Privacy

UnalSoft Media Optimizer is a free Windows application developed by UNALSOFT. It converts images to the WebP format and compresses videos for the web. This page summarizes the usage license, the privacy notice and the licenses of the open-source components included in the application. The full texts ship with the application (LICENSE.txt, PRIVACY.txt, THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt) and can also be viewed from the Legal and Privacy tab inside the application.

1. License (Free Software, EULA Summary)

• The application is free for personal and commercial use; it may be used on an unlimited number of devices.
• It may be shared with third parties, provided it remains unmodified and free of charge.
• Selling, renting or distributing the application for a fee is prohibited.
• Reverse engineering, modification and the creation of derivative works are prohibited (the individual licenses of the open-source components remain reserved).
• The application is provided "as is"; to the maximum extent permitted by law, UNALSOFT cannot be held liable for any damages arising from its use, including data loss. In particular, the "delete original files" option is an irreversible operation. Back up your important files.

2. Privacy, 100% Offline

The application performs all image and video operations solely on your own computer:

• It does not collect, store or transmit any personal data, files, telemetry or usage statistics.
• Your files are never uploaded to any server; they never leave your device.
• It establishes no network connection. All resources, including the interface font, are embedded in the application package.
• It contains no advertising and no third-party trackers. The only local record kept is the application language you select.

3. Security

• The application runs without internet access; its content security policy (CSP) blocks external connections entirely.
• The interface runs isolated (sandboxed) from operating-system resources; file operations are limited only to the files and folders you select.
• The application is an unsigned portable .exe; Windows SmartScreen may show a warning on first launch. Download the file only from unalsoft.com.

4. Open-Source Components

The application includes the following open-source software, each subject to its own license:

• Electron (MIT), including Chromium (BSD) and Node.js (MIT)
• sharp (Apache 2.0), including libvips (LGPL v3)
• fluent-ffmpeg (MIT)
• FFmpeg (GNU GPL v3), via ffmpeg-static, as an unmodified binary. Source code: ffmpeg.org
