Microsoft Ads brings the ad preview hub to Performance Max

Microsoft Advertising extended its ad preview hub to Performance Max campaigns on July 27, 2026. Advertisers can now open an asset group and see how eligible ad formats will look across devices and placements before anything goes live. The secure link the tool generates lets clients and stakeholders review the creative without being given account access.

01 · WHAT HAPPENED?

The preview hub reaches automated campaigns

According to Search Engine Land's report dated July 27, 2026, Microsoft Advertising extended the ad preview hub to cover Performance Max campaigns. The tool arrived earlier this year for Audience campaigns, and Microsoft said at the time that it would expand to other campaign types. Because Performance Max assembles creative assets automatically for different placements, the final shape of an ad used to sit outside the advertiser's view. The preview hub closes that gap.

02 · DETAILS

Previewing from an asset group, and the shareable link

The flow is simple. Inside a Performance Max campaign you open an asset group and select the preview option. The screen then shows eligible ad formats across different devices and placements, so you can see how the same set of headlines and images is cropped on a desktop placement versus a mobile one before it ever runs.

The second capability is on the sharing side. The tool generates a secure, shareable link that lets stakeholders and clients review the creative without being given access to the Microsoft Advertising account. According to Microsoft, only the person who generates the link and the people they share it with can open the preview. The capabilities introduced with the tool's first release in February 2026 included picking specific publishers to see how an ad appears in that environment, choosing which asset is shown in multi-asset campaigns, switching between devices, and viewing the ad either in a full page or in isolation. Microsoft noted then that preview coverage was limited to certain surfaces at launch and would broaden over time.

03 · WHY IT MATTERS

The more automation, the more visibility is worth

The direction of ad platforms over the past two years is clear: campaign setup gets simpler while decisions about where and in what shape the creative appears move into the system. That shortens setup time, but it has a side effect. The advertiser cannot see which crop, which headline combination and which placement their brand actually shows up in. For a brand that is uncertainty, and for an agency it is difficult ground to defend.

This is exactly why preview tools are regaining value. Seeing the ad before launch buys two concrete things. The first is creative quality: is the logo cut off, does a long headline end in an ellipsis, is the campaign message still readable in a small placement? The second is approval speed: circulating one link instead of a chain of screenshots shortens the revision rounds. In a setup where automation makes the decisions, the real control left to the advertiser is input quality, and input quality cannot be judged without seeing the output.

04 · TÜRKİYE

What it means for businesses in Türkiye

In Türkiye creative approval usually runs on screenshot traffic: the agency sends a frame, the business owner looks at it on a phone, the revision comes back as a message. A preview link that can be shared without handing over account access shortens that loop and keeps the discussion anchored to one shared view. Even for teams that do not run Microsoft Ads, the practice transfers: move the approval step ahead of launch and keep a record of what was actually approved.

The timing is useful too. The amendments to the Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices Regulation take effect on August 1 and bring requirements such as disclosing the use of AI in advertising and accuracy in discount messaging. Checks like that only become practical work when you can see the finished ad before it runs. If you have a team working on the Microsoft Ads side, a good first step is opening the asset groups of the live Performance Max campaigns and walking through how each one renders across placements.

The UNALSOFT take

In automated campaigns the thing that decides performance is not a bid setting, it is the creative you hand the system. In our ad management work, reviewing creative placement by placement before launch is a standing step: which headline gets cropped at which size, whether the focal point of an image disappears in a small unit. Circulating the approved creative through a single link is the other half of the job, because then everyone is looking at the same thing.

Creative seen before launch costs less than creative fixed after it.
