More than a million businesses run Meta business agents every week

In the second quarter results it published on July 29, 2026, Meta said more than one million businesses use the business agents it opened globally on WhatsApp and Messenger every week to talk to customers or complete sales. The agents are now rolling out on Instagram as well. In the same quarter, WhatsApp-driven revenue passed $1 billion for the first time.

01 · WHAT HAPPENED?

The number came out on an earnings call

Meta published its second quarter 2026 results on July 29, 2026 and held its earnings call the same day, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg and CFO Susan Li. In his prepared remarks Zuckerberg said Meta Business Agents were made available globally this quarter on WhatsApp and Messenger, and that more than one million businesses are already using them every week to talk to their customers or complete sales. In the same passage he said agents are now rolling out on Instagram too. The figure appears on that call, not in the press release.

The wider picture points the same way: total revenue rose 28% year over year to $60.80 billion. Family of Apps "other revenue" passed $1 billion in a quarter for the first time and grew 73%. Susan Li described the main drivers of that growth as WhatsApp paid messaging and subscription revenue.

02 · DETAILS

What the agent does, and what changed for larger companies

When Meta announced Business Agent on June 3, 2026, it described it as an assistant that answers questions, recommends products, books appointments, qualifies leads and closes sales. The rollout was open to businesses of every size, setup was free for the time being, and paid subscription options were said to be coming in later months. On the earnings call the company pointed to the Meta Business Agent Platform introduced this month: a layer that lets larger businesses customise their own agent with enterprise grade controls, guardrails and measurement, and deploy it at scale.

Susan Li gave a concrete example. Movida, one of the largest car rental companies in Brazil with roughly 400 locations, ran its entire booking flow through a Business Agent on WhatsApp, from vehicle selection to pricing and payment, inside a single chat. Returning customers were able to complete a booking in three messages. Over a one month period, daily bookings coming through WhatsApp were up 44% against the same period a year earlier. That is the kind of case that shows an agent carrying a flow all the way to the payment step, not just answering questions.

03 · WHY IT MATTERS

Agents are turning from pilot into infrastructure

For a year agents have mostly been discussed as demos and pilots. A weekly usage figure changes that frame: the unit of measurement is no longer how many companies tried it, but how many run it every week. Zuckerberg also refused to confine the enterprise opportunity to agents; he listed APIs, business agents, potentially selling compute directly, and other services being built for large customers in the same breath. Describing the business model he compared it to the ad system and said the company will get paid when it delivers results for those businesses. The revenue is framed around outcomes rather than impressions.

Two advertising metrics from the same release belong next to that. Ad impressions rose 14% in the quarter and the average price per ad rose 12%. The source does not connect those numbers to agents, but on the advertiser side they land in the same place. While the unit cost of bought reach climbs by double digits in a year, the value of a conversation channel a business owns goes up. The gap widens between a setup that buys traffic and loses the conversation, and one that can carry every incoming conversation through to an outcome.

04 · TÜRKİYE

What it means for businesses in Türkiye

The assessment below is our reading, not something stated in the sources. Meta published no Türkiye specific breakdown. What is known is that customer contact in Türkiye runs largely over WhatsApp: appointments, quotes, order tracking, service records. In other words, the channel where Meta is scaling its agent is already the main channel here. That moves the setup decision out of the "someday" column and into this year's agenda.

Four practical notes. First, scope: answering a question and closing a booking are very different jobs, so decide up front how far the agent goes and pin the handover point to a human. Second, records: a price, a date or a commitment given in a conversation has to be written into your own system, because a chat screen is not a customer record. Third, KVKK: the purpose for which a flow touching personal data is processed, where it is stored, and the fact that the person is talking to an automated system all belong in the design, not in a notice bolted on afterwards. Fourth, cost: Meta said setup was free for now with paid subscription options coming in later months, so plan without assuming today's price holds. The Instagram rollout has only just started, so it may not appear for everyone on your team at once.

The UNALSOFT take

In our agentic AI work an agent is not a box added to a chat window, it is a step wired into the flow of the business. What the agent answers matters, but so does where it stops, where it gets the answer from, and which record the outcome lands in. The scale Meta reported shows this is no longer an experiment. The question to ask when deciding is not whether to build an agent, but which conversation can be carried all the way to an outcome.

The agent talks, the system records.
