Türkiye's postal regulator counts 728 million parcels and 104.45 billion lira in half a year
Türkiye's Information and Communication Technologies Authority published its Postal Sector Market Data Report 2026-1 on 22 September 2026. Parcel and cargo shipments passed 728 million pieces in the first half of the year, and sector net sales revenue climbed about 35 percent to 104.45 billion lira. Trendyol leads on volume, PTT on revenue.
A six month snapshot from the regulator
BTK's announcement, dated 22 September 2026, states that the Türkiye Posta Sektörü Pazar Verileri Raporu 2026-1 has been published. The announcement page itself carries no figures, only a link to the document; the numbers sit inside the report itself. It covers the first six months of 2026 and records 52 authorized postal service providers holding 55 authorizations between them, 26 national and 29 local, plus 9,543 postal agencies and branches across the country.
On volume, parcel and cargo shipments exceeded 728 million pieces in the half year, while letter type correspondence came to roughly 105.8 million pieces. Sector net sales revenue rose about 35 percent year on year to 104.45 billion lira, of which 87.90 billion lira came from parcel and cargo services and 16.54 billion lira from correspondence. Investment over the same period was 3 billion 524 million lira, and employment passed 122,000 people.
The volume ranking and the revenue ranking disagree
The report's second table ranks providers by shipment count. For the 2026-1 period Trendyol sits at 30.89 percent, followed by Aras at 11.62 percent, Yurtiçi at 11.07 percent, MNG at 10.14 percent, D Fast at 9.88 percent and PTT at 8.62 percent. The third table ranks them by total revenue, and the order changes: PTT takes 21.75 percent, ahead of Trendyol at 17.75 percent, Yurtiçi at 14.58 percent, Aras at 9.72 percent and MNG at 8.77 percent. PTT, the universal service provider, carried about 8.62 percent of parcels by count while earning about 6.92 percent of parcel and cargo revenue.
The report also breaks the shipment profile down in detail. About 82 percent of parcels weighed 2 kg or less, 17 percent fell between 2 and 20 kg, and 1 percent weighed more than 20 kg. About 96 percent were corporate shipments, that is business to consumer deliveries. Geographically, more than 83 percent of parcels moved between provinces (the chart value for 2026-1 is 83.16), about 15 percent stayed inside a single city and about 2 percent crossed borders. İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Antalya and Kocaeli received the most deliveries. On speed, about 11 percent of domestic shipments reached the recipient on the same day they were accepted, and about 88 percent arrived within two days after the acceptance day.
Light packages, business senders, intercity routes
Read together, three ratios describe what the sector actually moves: 96 percent corporate senders, 82 percent under two kilograms, and more than 83 percent travelling between provinces. That mix points to a network shaped by retail orders rather than heavy freight. The revenue split says the same thing from the other side, with 87.90 billion lira from parcel and cargo against 16.54 billion lira from correspondence.
The mismatch between the two rankings carries information of its own. Trendyol is far ahead on volume at 30.89 percent but sits at 17.75 percent of revenue, while PTT moves 8.62 percent of shipments yet tops the revenue table at 21.75 percent. Revenue per shipment therefore varies sharply from one provider to another. The delivery figures also set an operational benchmark: if about 88 percent of domestic shipments arrive within two days of acceptance, the promise printed on a product page should be built around that window rather than around an optimistic guess.
The data is Turkish data, but it comes from one source
Here Türkiye is not a separate angle; it is the subject. The report measures the domestic market: 9,543 agencies and branches nationwide, more than 122,000 employees, 3 billion 524 million lira of investment and 52 authorized providers. Parcel and cargo deliveries concentrate in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Antalya and Kocaeli, most shipments move between provinces, intracity traffic accounts for roughly 15 percent and international traffic for roughly 2 percent.
The sourcing deserves a plain statement. Every figure above comes from BTK's own announcement and from the report document it links to; no independent trade press confirmation could be added while this piece was compiled, so the regulator is the single point of verification. It is equally fair to list what the report does not contain: nothing about the second half of the year, no return or failed delivery rates, no average price per shipment, no profit and loss figures for individual providers, no breakdown of which spending items the investment covered, and no marketplace level split. On the composition of the growth the report does set two rates side by side: parcel volume rose about 5 percent, from roughly 691 million in the same period a year earlier to 728 million, while revenue rose about 35 percent. Revenue therefore grew far faster than volume.
UNALSOFT's take
This report is a benchmark, not a campaign idea. A merchant can now read its own shipping record against a national reference: if about 11 percent of domestic parcels are delivered on the acceptance day and about 88 percent within the following two days, the delivery promise on the site and the messages sent to customers should line up with that reality. The fact that 82 percent of parcels weigh two kilograms or less also means the weight, volumetric weight and shipping cost fields in a product record stop being a minor detail. In our e-commerce panel work we keep order, shipping and delivery status in one place, so that a merchant's own numbers can be compared with sector data like this.
