YouTube tests an invite-only Shorts bonus program for creators

YouTube is inviting selected creators into a Shorts bonus program it is testing. The program adds extra pay tied to posting consistency and performance, and YouTube's help page says there is no application process. The coverage also reports exclusive bonus offers for shopping affiliates who feature certain products.

01 · WHAT HAPPENED?

YouTube is testing a Shorts bonus with invited creators

Social Media Today reported on October 19, 2026 that YouTube is inviting selected creators into an additional earnings program built around posting consistency and performance. The YouTube Help page describes it as a bonus for select creators in specific regions. A creator who is invited and decides to join can earn extra payouts based on monthly Shorts uploads and how those Shorts perform.

The same report covers a second test: the shopping affiliate program. YouTube is trying exclusive bonus offers for videos that feature certain products, paid in addition to the usual affiliate share of revenue. The help page does not mention shopping bonuses, so this second part rests only on what Social Media Today reports.

02 · DETAILS

The invitation, the monthly upload minimum and valid views decide the payout

YouTube Help says invitations arrive by email and as a YouTube Studio notification, and the creator has to accept in Studio and agree to the program terms. To have a month count, the invitation must be accepted by the 15th; accepting later moves the activity to the following month. To qualify, a creator must upload the minimum number of public Shorts named in the invitation before the calendar month ends and still be monetizing at month's end. The extra earnings are calculated from that month's valid engaged Shorts views and from typical earnings in the creator's country. In the help page's words, "This program is invite-only and there is no application process."

Views that come from ads do not count, and the bonus is not guaranteed. The payout is added to the month's finalized YouTube earnings and paid through the AdSense for YouTube account, typically between the 21st and 26th of the following month. Google can change or cancel the program with 30 days' notice, or sooner for legal, security or abuse reasons. According to Social Media Today, YouTube has not spelled out the program's detailed requirements, and they may differ from one creator to another. A single invitation that a user posted on X asked for 16 public Shorts a month, so that figure rests on one example rather than a general rule. The promotion period is set out in each invitation.

03 · WHY IT MATTERS

Pay is tied to steady output and real viewership

The bonus measures valid engaged views, not just how often someone posts. Leaving out views generated by ads means paid traffic will not help a creator earn it. That pushes short-form production toward a steadier rhythm and organic viewership, and it could shape the content tempo of creators that brands work with.

The shopping side is more concrete. Social Media Today says a creator has to tag the product in the video, check the paid-promotion disclosure box and keep the video public for at least 30 days to earn the bonus, and the offers can be found in the Shopping Hub in YouTube Studio. Creative briefs attached to the offers are non-binding, so creators can take their own approach. YouTube is also rolling out updated analytics for shopping creators, adding figures on the sales that content generates, better product click and impression data, and per-seller breakdowns in advanced analytics. 04 · TÜRKİYE

The sources say nothing about Türkiye, so this section is commentary

Social Media Today lists the U.S., U.K., Germany, Brazil, Japan and South Korea as the test countries. Türkiye is not on that list, and neither source mentions Türkiye. The YouTube Help page gives no country list and refers only to specific regions; the list comes from Social Media Today. What follows is therefore not a fact drawn from the sources but explicitly UNALSOFT commentary.

Our reading is that we have no data on whether or when the program reaches Türkiye. The unknowns, one by one: whether creators in Türkiye can be invited, any date for Türkiye, how bonuses would be calculated there and which markets get the shopping bonuses all fall outside the sources. Social Media Today reports that creators who are not invited cannot apply at this stage, and YouTube's Rene Ritchie said more creators may be invited in the coming months. For brands in Türkiye, the sensible move is to wait and to set up today's work properly: a content plan with product tags, a clear paid-promotion label and videos that stay public for 30 days.

The UNALSOFT view

We read this less as a reward announcement and more as a signal of what the creator economy measures: steady output and real viewership. The practical consequence for brands is to settle the content calendar and conditions such as product tagging, paid-promotion labelling and how long a video stays public before a collaboration starts. In UGC marketing work we treat those steps as part of the production plan. Because the sources carry no data about Türkiye, this article offers no local forecast.

Do your creator collaborations have a clear content plan?

A short conversation is enough to plan conditions such as product tags, paid-promotion labels and how long videos stay public.
